112 – Health Care from

The calls to 112, the European Emergency Number, of Taxi and Minivan customers in Sougia, citizens and visitors of Crete, Greece and the entire European Union include the following possibilities:

• Communication in all European Union countries
• Operation within / outside the scope of any mobile network or other networks for areas not covered by telephone networks
• Response from specially trained operators in Greek, English and French.
• Locating the caller automatically, as soon as the operator answers, while from April 2020 it is possible to locate the position within 30 seconds and with an accuracy of less than 100 meters.

A free card that gives you access to medically necessary, state-provided healthcare during a temporary stay in any of the 27 EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, under the same conditions and at the same cost (free in some countries) as people insured in that country.

Cards are issued by your national health insurance provider.

Important – the European Health Insurance Card:

• is not an alternative to travel insurance. It does not cover any private healthcare or costs such as a return flight to your home country or lost/stolen property
• does not cover your costs if you are travelling for the express purpose of obtaining medical treatment
